Cordley Chess Tournament

K-3, K-6, K-9, K-12

Where: Kansas Union, 1301 Jayhawk Blvd., University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS 66045

Registration: 8:15‑9:00 am, Sat., December 12. Registration tables will be in 4^th floor lobby area. First round begins at 9:30.

Rounds: 6 Round Swiss tournament (Game 30); 4 Sections: K‑12; K‑9; K‑6; & K-3

Games will be played on 6^th floor (Kansas, Malott & English Rooms)

Entry Fee: $7 pre‑registered (by Thursday night, payment made at tournament)

$10 on‑site registration

Prizes: Trophies for top 3 teams in each section; Individual trophy for 1^st place and medals for next 19 individuals in each section

Lunch: available on site (11:00-2:00) at Union Market, 3^rd floor (pizza, sandwiches)

Equipment: Please bring boards, sets and clocks.

Late entries (after 9 am) will not be paired in the first round.

Parents and Coaches, please note: The Kansas Union have other events taking place that day. Please help us monitor your children and discourage them from disturbing other activities, running in the halls and otherwise being disruptive between rounds. When not in the playing rooms, they should confine their movements to the 4^th floor lobby and the 3^rd floor cafeteria areas.

Directions:

From Kansas City: take K‑10 east to Lawrence, which becomes 23^rd Street. Continue west on 23^rd St. to Massachusetts. Turn right and proceed to 19th St. Turn left and proceed to Kentucky St. Turn right and follow Kentucky to 13^th St. Turn left and follow 13^th to Jayhawk Boulevard. The Kansas Union is SW of this intersection and a parking garage is NW of this intersection.

From Topeka: take I‑70 to West Lawrence exit. Follow Iowa Street south to 15^th St. Turn left and follow 15^th to Naismith Drive. Turn left onto Naismith and proceed to top of hill. Turn right and go straight past the roundabout onto Jayhawk Boulevard. Follow Jayhawk Boulevard for 2 long blocks as it turns towards the north. The Kansas Union is the last building on the left before you reach 13^th St. A parking garage is beyond 13^th St. on the left.

From south of Lawrence: take US 59 north to Lawrence and proceed north on this street (Iowa St.) to 15^th St. Turn right and follow 15^th to Naismith Drive. Turn left onto Naismith and proceed to top of hill. Turn right and go straight past the roundabout onto Jayhawk Boulevard. Follow Jayhawk Boulevard for 2 long blocks as it turns towards the north. The Kansas Union is the last building on the left 13^th St. A parking garage is beyond 13^th St. on the left.
