Adult USCF Tournaments with KSCA Scholastic Tournaments

Any organizer who chooses to do so may have an adult section in connection with their Kansas Chess Association (KCA) tournament.  These sections will be organized as follows:

·        All tournaments are USCF rated; therefore, USCF and KCA memberships are required.  You can save money and become a USCF member by going online to https://secure2.uschess.org/webstore/member.php.  KCA membership may be purchased by going to http://www.kansaschess.org/htdocs/KCA-MembershipApplication.pdf and then mailing in that form and a check at least a month in advance of when you wish to play in a tournament.  You may purchase both at the tournament, but at the tournament you must pay cash; no checks, credit, or debit cards are accepted.  If you do not have proof of USCF membership in with you at the tournament, then you will be required to purchase a membership at that time.  Acceptable proof of USCF membership is a printed off online receipt, the latest Chess Life with mailing label, or USCF membership card.

·        The tournament entry fee will be the same as for the scholastic players attending that tournament.  The entry fee (usually $5 or $7 for advance notification) will be listed on the tournament information page, just follow the link to the tournament.  Entries should be emailed to the Tournament Director by Thursday of that week to get the advanced entry price and payment of the entry fee will be onsite.  The entry fee must also be paid in cash.

·        All players are expected to be onsite and checked by10:00AM.

·        All of these tournaments will be four round, Game 30 tournaments.  With 5 or more players the tournament will be swiss-system pairings and with 3 or 4 players round-robin pairings will be used.

·        Round I of each of these tournaments will begin at the same time as Round II of the scholastic tournament, which in most cases will be around 10:20 to 10:40.

·        There will be no scheduled round times, as soon as one round is finished, for both the scholastic and adult sections, then the next round will be paired and begin.

·        There will be no lunch break, but items for lunch will be available at the tournament.

·        For each point which a player scores in one of these tournaments, their entry fee into the next Kansas Open shall be reduced by $1.00.  This shall be the only prize for these tournaments.

·        Because final information for these tournaments will not be available until after necessary publication dates there will be no listing in Chess Life or Plains Chess of any of these tournaments.
